FRESHWATER & TIDEWATER FISHING REPORTS

SUMMER-RUN STEELHEAD - 09/05/17 - There are still a few summer-run steelhead being caught!  The confluence of the Nestucca River and Three Rivers is one of the best spots, but also try the upper river well above Beaver.  Get out and fish early because the best bite is the first hour after it gets light.  There will be summers around until Christmas!

CATCHABLE TROUT - 09/15/17 - The next good fishing for rainbows in our local lakes will be the week of September 18th/22nd.  ODF&W will be planting Trophy Rainbow trout.  This can be a good little fishery, right here in our own little Town Lake (Just up the road from Woods).  Boats are needed here to get you into the areas these fish are in.  Please - no motor boats on this small lake!

Use 2 wt to 4 wt fly rods for trout, a floating line, two lb. test tippets, a strike indicator, and a size 12 to 8 bead head hare's ear nymph in brown or black.  Set your indicator about 4 to 6 feet above your Bead Head Hare's Ear Nymph!  Fish where you see these fish jumping or rolling, and cast out and let the fish find your Nymph!  Do not move it!  If your strike indicator doesn't go under after 40 seconds, recast again about 10 feet one way or the other (called fan casting)!  These larger trout will also take a variety of flies, including dry flies.  If you're not getting takes, you are either not on them, or they're deeper!

FALL RUN CHINOOK SALMON - 09/15/17 The fall run chinook are now in tidewater.  There are a some nice ones being caught, some up to 25 lbs. on flies.  And, - it'll get much better!

Lime green/white Clousers, Rainbow Clousers, and a variety of comets, are the go to flies for these fish!  Use Type 1, through Type 3 sink rate lines.  Don't use your motor and row quietly into position.  Also, lower your anchors very quietly!  Fish the top and bottom ends of the tides - when they're more active and inclined to grab!

Both clipped and unclipped salmon are now legal to take.

HINT:  Our web cam is usually pointed at the Boat Ramp Hole - and you can watch fish roll and fishermen fishing for them - if the salmon are there

PACIFIC CITY DORY BOAT & DRIFT BOAT TRIPS

The Pacific City area is one of the best fly fishing locations in the United States.  This area has rivers, lakes, and the nearby ocean.  These waters all have excellent fishing during their seasons.

We will start running ocean dory fly fishing trips for the summer in May, weather and surf permitting, for a variety of rockfish, and salmon when in season.  These trips will be fun for both advanced fly fishers and beginners.  Please try to email to book trips on the dory at least a month in advance to try and insure you will get a date.  The calendar is filling up, so get your reservation in as early as possible.

The dory is limited to four anglers max. (we prefer two to three) and we supply all the needed fly fishing equipment for the trip, - but you are welcome to bring your own fly tackle if you'd like.

Drift boat trips for salmon, steelhead, and trout, are usually run during the fall, winter, and spring time, and these all depend on weather, water conditions, and fish runs and numbers.

We work very hard to make all our trips both enjoyable and productive.
